The person behind the app
Ben FidgeSoftware developer & gym ownerAbout ten years ago, I left the UK looking for a fresh start. I came to Thailand to study Muay Thai and found a calling in it: the training, the people, and a sense of direction I had been missing.
When several of my trainers lost their jobs during Covid, I wanted to help. That became the beginning of Khao Lak Muay Thai, the gym I own in Khao Lak, Phang Nga. I built it to create work for people who had given so much to my own journey.
That experience, and approaching fifty, have made me think more deeply about my place in the world. Why are we here? What does it mean to live a useful life? What do I want to give my time and attention to? Those questions are part of my journey into Christianity.
Faith Before Feeds grew from a smaller, everyday version of the same question. I noticed how often I reached for doom feeds first thing in the morning. As a software developer, I wanted to build a practical way to put Scripture first, and carry that intention through the day. This app is something I’m building for my own life, too.
A few practical questions
Thoughtful boundaries start with
understanding how they work.
Yes. Completing a reading earns a timed access period shared across protected apps. Switching apps does not restart the timer. When the period ends, protection resumes.
The optional six-digit Settings PIN helps protect configuration on the same device. It does not provide remote monitoring, device pairing or a parent dashboard.
Core Scripture reading and stored progress work locally. Purchases, operating-system permissions and some support features have their own connectivity requirements.
Choose the distracting apps you want a pause before. Leave urgent communication apps such as Messenger and WhatsApp unprotected so important messages stay within reach.
The app is in development. The planned waitlist will share launch updates and invite interested people to test on iOS and Android. Platforms, timing and tester places are still to be confirmed.
